Last week I was on Way Up North photography conference in Cannes. It was my 6th WUN and there is absolutely no question why I keep coming back year after year. Seeing my colleagues only once every six months is often very lonely and though, and that is why I cherish these few days together so so much.
Coming to Way Up North feels like coming back home. Seeing my photography family. Walking into a room of over two hundred wedding photographers that have the same struggles as you in your business. We get together for two days and learn from some of the best in the industry and laugh, cry and dance together. I would never be where I am today if not for this conference and I owe so much to it.
Because of WUN, I have found my community and my boss ladies (you know who you are!) that has made my work so much more meaningful. Without WUN wouldn’t have the drive that I have today to create meaningful work for my clients that will withstand the testament of time. To go beyond a normal client/vendor relationship and to work my butt off. Every time I come back I am in a different phase of my career and I always take home so much inspiration and information that I can implement.
Some of my highlights this time were to talk Spanish with the most genuine speaker Fer Juaristi who’s work is mindblowing, reminisce with Rosie Hardy about the workshop I attended by her six years ago in London, and watch the epic genius Si Moore have a Tay-Tay moment on stage -and of course seeing my own work blown up on the screen as they announced the winners of the best European wedding photographs of 2018. What an huge honor, a thousand times thank you so the judges Nirav Patel, Flothemes, Fer Juaristi and Citlalli Rico!! You can see all the winners HERE.
What a crazy amazing couple of days it was! A thousand times thank you to Cole and Jakob and see you all in October in Stockholm!
